The cocoa pod splitting machine is a new cocoa bean screening solution developed after vibrating screens and rotary drum screens. It cracks fresh cocoa pods and separates fresh cocoa beans in one process, making it the most efficient equipment for fresh cocoa bean extraction.
With a capacity of 300–2000 kg/h, the machine features a strong frame and drum made of food-grade 201 stainless steel. It is wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant, easy to clean, and suitable for both medium- and large-scale processing plants.
Cocoa Pod Splitting Machine Components
The machine has a simple structure, mainly including a motor, drum unit, screen, frame, feed inlet, and discharge outlet. The motor drives the drum through a coupling to rotate along its axis for efficient screening. It is usually used together with a lifting cutting machine.
- Stainless steel drum: Made of a thickened 201 stainless steel perforated plate. Strong and durable, with evenly distributed holes and over 90% screening accuracy.
- Discharge hopper: Made of 201 stainless steel. It guides cocoa beans of the same size into separate collection boxes to prevent mixing.
- Frame: Fully made of painted carbon steel and equipped with movable casters for easy workshop mobility.
- Power system: Driven by a 1.1 kW motor, ensuring stable drum rotation, low operating noise, and easy maintenance.

Working Principle of the Cocoa Pod Cutting Machine
After shelling, fresh cocoa pods are fed into the rotating drum through the inlet. As the drum rotates, the material moves along the drum under centrifugal force. During this movement, cocoa beans separate from the pod shells through repeated contact and impact with the drum.
The beans pass through the screen holes and fall into the collection outlet, while the pod shells continue moving forward and are discharged from the end of the drum. With different screen hole sizes, fresh cocoa beans are graded by size and fully separated from the shells.
After screening, cocoa beans of different sizes are collected separately. Users can select the appropriate cocoa pod cutting machine model based on their required bean size grade.
